Inspired by the art of famous artists, children will create their own mini masterpiece every Thursday in September. Little ones will practice using their fine motor skills by painting with fingers, cotton balls, paint brushes, and even toy cars! A great opportunity for children ages 2 – 5 to safely socialize through parallel play.

Children’s smocks are available to use during this program, however, we strongly recommend dressing your little one in play clothing. Per CDC guidelines, Face Masks are required for individuals age 5 and up.

Library Card Sign Up Month

September is National Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when Penn Area Library joins the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide to remind parents, caregivers and students that signing up for a library card is the first step on the path to academic achievement and lifelong learning.

This year, to encourage awareness of public library membership, we’ll recognize the annual event with prize drawings for new and returning library cardholders, as well as our regular supporting patrons. Whether you are an avid library user, first time patron, or one who needs to renew their library card, we’ll have something for you.

When you get a library card, and begin your journey as a lifelong learner, you can submit an entry form for our end of the month prize drawing. Renewing your expired card will also enable you to enter in the drawing.

Once you sign up or renew your library card, you’ll receive an entry ticket for our end of the month raffle. At the end of the month we’ll pick two winners.

For our patrons who regularly enjoy the variety of free services and resources their library provides, we have something for you too. A library-wide scavenger hunt! Explore your library, and learn about all of the great resources and services we offer free of charge. Pick up your scavenger hunt form at the Circulation Desk. Follow the clues, and when you arrive at the different spots in the library, fill in the correct answer and return it to the Circulation Desk. A correct answer sheet will enter you into the prize drawing at the end of the month.

Participate at home in your pajamas by joining our latest reading challenge on Beanstack! Earn chances to take home this raffle by entering our ‘Library Card Sign-Up Month’ and logging your reading online.

Download the Beanstack app on your mobile phone or smart device to participate in this virtual reading challenge.
